My Story

I’m Kiran Aiyar. Before senior care, I spent my career in engineering and operations — a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and the systems-thinking habits that came with it, a Master’s in Engineering Management, and years spent inside organizations trying to make things work better for the people who depended on them.

None of that was about senior care. But it shaped how I think: look closely at how something actually works, not how it’s supposed to work. Find where the friction is. Fix the system, not just the symptom. Those habits turned out to matter more than I expected once I started spending real time with older adults.

Why Senior Care

Why Senior Care

My connection to this work started with volunteering — sitting with older adults, hearing their stories, and noticing how much their quality of life depended on things that had very little to do with clinical care: whether they felt heard, whether their days had any shape or purpose, whether the people around them treated them like adults instead of patients.

The more time I spent in that world, the more I felt a mix of respect for the people doing this work well and frustration at how often the system makes it harder than it needs to be. I didn’t want to just notice that. I wanted to do something about it — which is eventually what led to Reimaginer.

Professional Journey

Engineering → Operations → Entrepreneurship → Senior Care

01

Engineering & Systems Thinking

An Industrial Engineering degree taught me to see organizations as systems — inputs, processes, outcomes, and the gap between how things are designed and how they actually run.

02

Operations Leadership

Years in operations leadership meant translating that systems thinking into daily practice: process improvement, lean methods, and the unglamorous work of making organizations run better for the people inside them.

03

Entrepreneurship & Real Estate

Building my own ventures — including work in real estate — taught me what it actually takes to bring an idea from concept to something real: capital, patience, and a willingness to be wrong in public.

04

Senior Care & Reimaginer

Volunteering with older adults turned a professional skill set into a personal mission. Reimaginer is where engineering discipline meets a simple belief: aging deserves better design, not just better intentions.

I’m not building Reimaginer because I have all the answers. I’m building it because I think older adults deserve people who are willing to keep asking better questions.
